wickedkunt asked: I used to work in a jewellery store, and dealt with this issue (esp. personally, because I wear all white gold/silver) ... white gold is (surprise!) made of gold gold, and in order to get it white coloured, they mix it with differeny alloy metals. The outcome is a white-yellow colour, which you are no seeing. White gold is thus plated with a relative metal to platinum that's more white -...

Yep when mine got scratched up the scratch parts started to yellow
rachelfabulous replied to your post: White Gold Jewelry Turning Yellow?
Yes, mine too. They can fix it - it has to be *enter some fancy word here*. Let me know how much it costs. I need to get my anniversary band done too!

White Gold Jewelry Turning Yellow?
Anyone (ladies, most likely, but I’m not ruling out a few of you more fashionable men) have any white gold jewelry that has yellowed since you got it?
My wife has a platinum wedding band and for our anniversary a couple years back we bought her a matching white-gold anniversary band. The white gold has definitely yellowed a bit and is obvious when compared to her platinum...

Yes, very eye-opening. It didn’t say where she was from, but I would hope the people around me would be better than this. I think I’m better than this, but now I’m going to be hyper-aware of how I’m treating everyone around me, regardless of how they look or dress.

Someone thinks I'm awesome?
But they left one of those thingies anonymously, so I guess they don’t want me to thank them publicly. So I won’t, I’ll just go to bed hoping everyone I follow knows that I think THEY are awesome. Because awesome knows awesome, right? Ok, maybe not, but I wanted to see how many times I could use the word awesome in a post before it started to sound like a fake word. Awesome,...

You Oughta Be in Pictures!
Or rather, one picture. A portrait, to be precise.
Paul Thie, an artist friend of a friend of a friend has a new project he’s doing called Everyone. It’s a really neat idea - he accepts photograph submissions from friends, relatives, and now total strangers and turns them into mini ink portraits (1.25” by 1”). The results run the gamut in styles (it looks like there are...

Warm Leatherette →
But the possibility of an affordable leather couch was too strong to resist. Urban Home turned out to be full of cheap leather-like couches. And like I said, furniture has an expiration date. We know that now, so we won’t be surprised, five years from now, when our Urban Home ovo-lacto-leather-blend couch needs to be replaced by a series of (vegan) hammocks and slings.
I laughed out loud at...

30 DoB: Day 02 – The More the Merrier!
30 Days of Books: Day 02 - A book that you’ve read more than 3 times
I’ve been stymied on Day 2 of this book meme, but unlike Steve and Bookmole, it doesn’t have to do with only having a few books that meet this criteria; on the contrary, I have so many books that meet the criteria of having been read more than three times that it was hard to decide on just one to post about!
To me,...

ATTENTION ATLANTA DENIZENS
This whole MARTA system isn’t as confusing as it looks on their website, is it?
I’m going to be staying near the airport this weekend and want to take one of your $2 railed conveyances to the GWCC instead of driving into the city. The map seems to indicate I go from College Park station to Five Points, transfer to the Blue Line, and end up at my destination. The itinerary planning...

Truthful Tuesday
I start way more projects than I finish. But I don’t ever scrap them entirely - they’re always hanging out there, in the back of my head, as a “someday” thing. Not sure this is healthy.
When stressed, I bite my nails. I very rarely have nails that are not bitten to the quick.
I want to like The Decemberists, but I just can’t. I obtained two of their albums a...

I just crafted a post about filing medical receipts/forms for a health care FSA reimbursement, and reading back over it, I sounded like a self-entitled asshole. I don’t want to sound like that, and I definitely don’t want to BE that, so I’ll refrain from posting anything more about it, except for one thing:
- There are people out there that have to choose between seeing a...

Has anyone ever told you that you look like you could be Jake Gyllenhaal’s older brother?
Someone may have mentioned that once or twice, but I never get tired of the comparison. Not sure why I get so much pleasure out of a quasi-resemblance to a celebrity, but I do.

Multiple Choice
My boss just sent an “Out of office until April 5” email and he’s already left for his trip.
He did not mention anything to me, and did not tell me what I should be working on in the meantime.
Should I assume:
A) He has a (hell of a) lot of faith that I will be proactive and figure out what I should be doing, or
B) This is carte blanche to spend my work week on Tumblr, or
C)...

Android Users - Free Paid Apps at Amazon's...
I may be late to the party, but I just noticed today that Amazon’s Appstore for Android is now offering one paid app, for free, every day. Today’s offer is Shazam, which normally costs $5.
Although I’m not a fan of installing yet another app installer, this looks like it could be worthwhile if Amazon’s going to help subsidize the cost of some of the paid apps out there...

Sick Days
I can understand an employer limiting “sick days” for employees to prevent abuse of the system. But seriously - when I’m feeling like this, you’re actually saving money by paying my salary for me to stay home, because 1) you’re probably not going to get any work out of me today anyway and 2) I’m probably going to spend my weight in electricity/bandwidth costs...
