This is a video showing how a Wöhr automated parking system works. It’s damn cool - fully automated technology that lets a driver park their car in a ‘loading bay’, get a parking token, and the car is then whisked off to a storage bay. Retrieval involves putting your token in a machine and paying the parking fee, and the car is retrieved from the storage bay and returned to the loading bay for you to unlock, hop in, and drive away.
It looks like there are some limitations - for example, it’s something like 120 retrievals per hour for a 10-bay, 400 car system, so it wouldn’t be suitable for high-traffic areas around rush-hour where the whole garage clears out in 30-40 minutes, but for locations where cars are continually coming/going (e.g. airports?) this could really make a difference in your parking experience.
